The relationship between cocoa and tropical forests is ancient. Already 5000 years ago the ancient inhabitants of the Amazon included it in their ceremonial rituals. The Ashaninka culture considers nature as a living entity that must be respected. Their territory is rugged and you can find slopes, streams and deep ravines. The intricate river systems present in the Amazon region, as well as the pre-Hispanic routes allowed the expansion of the presence of cacao throughout the different regions of pre-Columbian America.
Eni Cacao seeks to revalue that ancestral knowledge and in turn create sustainable farming systems that allow the development of native communities as well as the harmonious coexistence of our activities. In the Ashaninka culture, Eni means "River". Our cocoa is produced in the Peruvian Amazon, which has one of the largest hydrographic basins on the planet. We use traditional production methods without neglecting the safety and quality aspects.

Cacao paste is the natural product of ground nibs, which are drawn from the fruit of the Theobroma Cacao tree. Cacao liquor, also called Cacao Paste, is made by crushing cacao beans into a liquid. This liquid quickly solidifies at room temperature and the result is cacao paste. It is naturally about 55% cacao butter and is an extremely smooth product great for use in any chocolate recipe. If you are looking for true dark chocolate, this is it.

Once the Criollo Cacao liquor is obtained, it is pressed to extract the cacao butter, leaving a solid mass called cacao presscake, then it is broken into small pieces to form kibbled presscake, which is then pulverized to form our delicious criollo cacao powder powder.
